Publication Ethics
Bahana International Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies (BIJMS) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against any publication malpractice. This ethical statement follows the principles and guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and applies to all parties involved in the publishing process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.
Duties of Authors
Authors submitting manuscripts to BIJMS are required to ensure that their work is original and has not been previously published or submitted simultaneously to another journal. All sources used must be appropriately cited. Plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, and unethical research practices are strictly prohibited.
Authors must accurately present their research data and provide sufficient detail to allow replication. Any conflicts of interest, financial or otherwise, that could influence the interpretation of the results must be clearly disclosed. If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they are obligated to promptly notify the editor and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article.
Duties of Editors
Editors of BIJMS are responsible for making publication decisions based solely on the academic merit of the manuscripts, including originality, clarity, validity, and relevance to the journal’s scope. Editors shall evaluate manuscripts without regard to the authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy.
Editors must ensure a fair, unbiased, and confidential peer-review process. They are also responsible for maintaining the integrity of the academic record and taking appropriate action when ethical complaints or allegations of misconduct arise, including issuing corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern when necessary.
Duties of Reviewers
Reviewers play a crucial role in assisting editors with editorial decisions and improving the quality of manuscripts. Reviewers must conduct their evaluations objectively, constructively, and within the agreed timeframe. Any manuscript received for review must be treated as confidential and must not be shared or discussed with others without authorization.
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited and inform the editor of any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under review and other published works. Reviewers must also declare any potential conflicts of interest and decline to review manuscripts where such conflicts exist.
Duties of the Publisher
The publisher, CV Bahana Fakta Gemilang, is committed to ensuring that editorial decisions are independent and not influenced by commercial interests. The publisher supports editors in handling ethical issues and ensures that all published content adheres to ethical standards and best practices in scholarly publishing.
Ethical Oversight
BIJMS takes allegations of research misconduct seriously and will investigate all reported cases in accordance with COPE guidelines. Actions may include requesting clarification from authors, conducting independent investigations, and applying appropriate sanctions when misconduct is confirmed.
